Dr. Jacob Dufour believes that taking the time to understand each patient’s unique visual symptoms and concerns is critical to quality care. He enjoys serving as a provider of routine family eye care for patients of ALL ages, but his passion lies in specialized eye care for pediatrics and adults with acquired brain injuries.
Dr. Dufour earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR. In 2015 he graduated summa cum laude with a doctorate of optometry from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. His residency training in pediatric vision development and vision rehabilitation was in Seattle, WA through Pacific University. He furthered his specialty training by completing a fellowship through the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association.
Dr. Dufour is a behavioral optometrist and one of a handful of optometrists in Arkansas practicing in the field of vision therapy. His behavioral perspective considers visual function in the context of each patient's unique circumstances including: stage of development/rehabilitation, daily visual demands, and the state of other sensory and motor systems. He regularly provides care for infants, young children, patients with special needs and adults with acquired brain injuries. His clinical expertise is concentrated in the management of amblyopia (lazy eyes), strabismus (crossed or misaligned eyes), learning-related vision problems, binocular vision dysfunction, double vision, light sensitivity and visual motion sensitivity.
